Top 10 Dumbest/Funniest Socialist Quotes Ever

#1. USDA Stupidity

"Oranges are not an essential food. People don't need oranges. They can take vitamins." -Ben Darling USDA official

FDA bureaucrats in 1981 left fields of oranges to rot as part of a federal marketing order in order to keep prices high for farmers. Despite the fact that consumers would appreciate and benefit from lower prices, government is always looking after their big business interests. Franklin Delano Roosevelt even instituted this policy during the Great Depression, while people were starving. Socialist government doesn't care if people starve, if it can help big business.

#2. "Hanoi Jane"

"If you understood what communism was, you would hope-you would pray on your knees- that one day we would become communist." -Jane Fonda, University of Michigan Speech, 1970

Jane Fonda recently apologized for her ill-fated trip to North Vietnam in 1972, supporting the brutal communist government. Her quote here is reminiscent of someone who has found true religion, rather than a meaningful political philosophy.

#3. Supreme Court Justice Pines For Socialism

"Through its own internal feuding... the SP [Socialist Party] exhausted itself forever and further reduced labor radicalism in New York to the position of marginality and insignificance from which it has never recovered. The story is a sad but also chastening one for those who, more than half a century later after socialism's decline, still wish to change America. Radicals have often succumbed to the devastating bane of sectarianism; it is easier, after all, to fight one's fellows than it is to battle an entrenched and powerful foe. Yet if the history of local New York shows anything, it is that the American radicals cannot afford to become their own worst enemies. In unity lies their only hope." Justice Elena Kagan

Justice Kagen apparently is keeping hope alive that one day socialist reformers will be able to turn the United States into a picture of North Korea, or Venezuela.

#4. Liberal Fascism

"You must all know half a dozen people at least who are no use in this world, who are more trouble than they are worth. Just put them there and say Sir, or Madam, now will you be kind enough to justify your existence? If you can't justify your existence, if you're not pulling your weight in the social boat, if you're not producing as much as you consume or perhaps a little more, then, clearly, we cannot use the organizations of our society for the purpose of keeping you alive, because your life does not benefit us and it can't be of very much use to yourself." George Bernard Shaw

The great playwright Shaw was an avowed socialist... and a psychotic eugenicist that would have made Hitler proud.

#5. A Commissar Walks Into a Bar

"A Soviet agricultural commissar visits a collective farm and demands to know how the potato harvest is proceeding. "Marvelously!" replies the head of the farm. "We have so many potatoes that if we put them all in one pile, it would reach the foot of God!" The commissar turns grim and thunders, "This is the Soviet Union! There is no God!" To which the farmer replies, "That's alright, there are no potatoes either."

#6. Education is good for putting people in their place

"We want one class of persons to have a liberal education, and we want another class of persons, a very much larger class, of necessity, in every society, to forgo the privileges of a liberal education and fit themselves to perform specific difficult manual tasks... We are either trying to make liberally educated persons out of them, or we are trying to make skillful servants of society along mechanical lines, or else we do not know what we are trying to do." Woodrow Wilson, 1909

#7. Stupid actors saying stupid things...

Actor Sean Penn in an interview with Bill Maher was an ardent supporter of the late socialist tyrant Hugo Chavez. Penn expressed anger that people would call Chavez a dictator, saying that "truly there should be a bar by which one goes to prison for these kinds of lies."

OK Sean... you first.

#8. Nazism is socialism...

"We are socialists, we are enemies of today's capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are determined to destroy his system under all conditions." -Adolf Hitler

#9. Dat Woodrow Fascist Wilson

"Men are as clay in the hands of the consummate leader." -Woodrow Wilson

#10. That's so Reagan...

"How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin." -Ronald Reagan
